The sweet spot in the desert for horse people (or country living.) 19 minutes to Joshua Tree; 19 minutes to Palm Springs. (119 minutes to the Westside of Los Angeles; less from points east in the city.) Mom and the kids can hike, ride horses, rock climb, grow vegetables, visit bird sanctuaries, preserves and the national park. Here, you’ll find country living, with wide open spaces, nature at its best, quiet and very friendly people. Dad can play golf just down the hill, where the family can join him for all the happenings of resort city action in the Coachella Valley (restaurants, galleries, shopping, casinos, etc, etc.) before coming back up to the quiet of nature.
